Edited Jan. 7 – Added step interval
All those who made New Year’s resolutions to work toward better health can get started with a new session of fitness classes sponsored by the Jefferson park and recreation department at the Greene County Community Center. Most classes start the week of Jan. 4.
A new offering this winter is line dancing taught by certified line dancing instructor Petra Dawson. Dances will include the electric slide, Canadian Stomp, Black Coffee, Stompin’ It Out and Achy Breaky. People who come alone or with friends are sure to have fun with just a bit of a workout.
The line dancing class will meet Mondays, Jan. 11 through Feb. 8, from 7 to 8 pm.
Zumba classes will be offered six days a week, with punch passes and drop-in rates available for some of them. Schedules vary by instructor.
Yoga, Morning Groove, Tone and Tighten, step interval, big ball toning, Extreme Fit and cycling all return for winter sessions.
The 2016 winter/spring activity guide, which lists all classes and schedules, can be downloaded here. For information, call the JPRD at 515-386-3412 or visit the Community Center at 204 W. Harrison St in Jefferson.
